Calling in Sacred Space: A Practical Approach for the Munay-Ki Rites
When calling in sacred space during our Munay-Ki rites, it’s important to remember that intention is the most powerful element of the practice. While some shamanic traditions involve spitting out Florida water as part of the process, this isn’t necessary—especially if you’re indoors. In fact, using Florida water this way indoors can create a mess and isn’t practical for most settings.
For those of you who feel called to use Florida water, it’s perfectly fine to incorporate it when calling in the directions outdoors. I personally use it this way during my outdoor ceremonies, but again, it’s not required.
The true essence of calling in sacred space is about the energy and focus you bring to the moment. Whether you choose to light a candle, burn sage, play music, or simply set your intention silently, it’s all about creating a container of connection and respect for the work we’re about to do.
This isn’t a full shamanic course—it’s the Munay-Ki rites. However, I believe the act of calling in sacred space is something everyone can benefit from, regardless of their experience or background.
So, as you prepare, focus on what feels authentic to you. Trust that your intention to connect with the sacred is more than enough to open the space for the transformative energy of the rites to flow.
